MTS India To Shut Down Services In 10 Circles

MTS India - The leading Operator in Indian telecom Shutting down their services in 10 Circles including Assam, Bihar & Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Nort East, Orissa and Punjab. The Supreme Court canceled their license for these states. For this reason above 22 lakhs subscribers are affected. The customers have been gives a 30 day window in which they can either switch to a different telecom operator as well as exhaust their balance with MTS.

The company did not participate in November 2012 auction citing that its curative petition is pending before the apex court in which it has sought exemption from SC judgement that cancelled its telecom permits.

The curative petition of the company was rejected by the apex court last week.

In a separate order on February 15, 2013, the Supreme Court asked telecom companies whose licences were cancelled by it and could not win or participate in November 2012 spectrum auction, to close their operations.
